Politics

I went to lunch today with a guy I work with named John and we started talking about the presidential candidates. Now, normally John and I talk about sports and sports related video games, but seeing as this was the second day in a row that we went out for lunch together it's my guess that we were pretty much out of topics and were just grasping for something to fill the awkward silences.

Anywho... John started asking me about Obama and Clinton and what I thought about their various plans for things like health care, immigration and the economy, and during the course of the conversation I came to realize that I don't really know a thing about their plans for health care, immigration and the economy because I haven't been paying attention to what either of them has said in about three months. Not since the primary/non-primary we had here in Michigan when we all cast votes and then the Democratic Party promptly pitched them into a paper-packing portcullis have I listened to what either has said.

Now, I can guess what their positions are just by the nature of them being democrats, but what I don't know is if either one can be an effective president.

At this point, who can really know such a thing... and who can really care? It's way too early to start having an informed opinion on anything because we still have one too many candidates in the race. There are three, when there should be only two.

Sometimes I forget that McCain is still in the race because he's like the NFC champ waiting for the AFC to decide which team is going to the Superbowl to clobber him. However, he still technically counts as a candidate, which means one of them will have to go before I wake from my political hibernation because I can't stand more than a binary choice in any election.

Call me on November 2nd when I take the day off to vote, because that's when I start researching who and what I want to vote for and not a minute before.
